Employment Status by Degree Field Groupings: 1997 Doctorate Recipients Industrial/organizational psychologists had the highest proportion employed full time due most likely to their location in academic or business settings where this is the norm. Part-time employment claimed relatively few new doctorates. The strong presence of new doctorates in physiology/experimental fields in post-doctorates can be explained by the importance of this experience to their careers and employment as psychologists. Post-doctorates in the health service provider subfields may likely be gaining additional experience prior to licensure.
