PhDs and PsyDs Awarded in Psychology: 1988-2001

The number of PhDs awarded in Psychology has remained fairly consistent with aproximately 3,500 PhDs awarded annually over the last 13 years. In contrast, the number of PsyDs has increased steadily since 1988 when under 400 PsyDs were awarded. In 2001 over 1,000 PsyDs were awarded representing a 169% increase since 1988.
