Employment Data
The data (mostly graphs, figures,
and tables) are organized primarily by degree level (baccalaureate, master's,
doctoral).
Caveats
The data are derived from different sources, which is important
to remember when interpreting the information presented. Data from
the American Psychological Association, the National
Research Council, and the Department of Education are generally
cross-sectional. Information from the National
Science Foundation is longitudinal.
The data are gathered at different points in time, so be
careful to cite the correct year.
APA research includes both PhD and PsyD degrees while research
conducted by the NSF and the NRC only include PhDs. Use of the word "doctoral" in
a title indicates inclusion of both PhDs and PsyDs. If a table refers
only to PhDs, PsyDs are not included. Thus, the national databases
undercount psychologists by a significant amount.
