The uses of the APA Faculty Salary Survey

Introduction

This presentation will give you an overview of some of the salary data available through the American Psychological Association Research Office's homepage. You will also learn how to extract custom salary data based on the criteria you choose, and import that data into Microsoft Excel.

You can navigate the sections of this presentation by using the navigation bar on the left of this page.

NOTE:

If you want to print these directions or any other page in this presentation, you must click in the frame on the right side of the page (the part of the page you are reading now, off of the green navigation bar). Although nothing will happen, this makes the right side of the page the "active" side. Then print the document. Otherwise you might just print the green navigation bar (if that side is the "active" one). Due to the layout of this site, this cannot be avoided.

The data presented on this web site are the result of thirty plus years of collaboration between the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology and the APA. The data have been, and continue to be, reported in a printed brochure Faculty Salaries in Graduate Departments of Psychology that is available from the Research Office. The report can also be found on the Research Office website. In 1996 the APA, in collaboration with COGDOP, decided to make the data available on the APA website. The current format evolved in response to comments by previous users. The Research Office welcomes further comments and suggestions which can be forwarded to either research@apa.org or to the project coordinator at edonchin@uiuc.edu.
