Getting the Data into a Spreadsheet

The description given here is for working with Microsoft Excel 97. If you are using another program, your actions may differ slightly. Please consult your spreadsheet program's manual for detailed instructions on importing data.

Method 2: Download as Spreadsheet Importable
  • Run Microsoft Excel
  • Click File, Open
  • Locate the TXT file you downloaded and open it (you may need to change the file types displayed, as seen on the right).
  • Once the file opens, follow the prompts, importing the data as a Tab Delimited file
  • Once finished, the spreadsheet should look similar to the one shown below.

The first thing you notice is that the data format is different. This method gives you data in numerical codes making graphing and grouping easier. There are two columns on the right, the Region and Rank columns. This is what each code means:
